Thank you to our wonderful member Diana for sharing this in our New Life Promise Family Facebook group a while back.

I saved it as soon as I saw it, because I absolutely LOVE this. I really do strive to accomplish something in each of these categories every single day.

Sometimes we think getting healthy just means eating the right foods and exercising, and we forget about the mental component or the spiritual component.

I like these 3 guidelines because it helps you touch on all the vital aspects of health every single day.

Here’s how I get each of these in…

A Physical Win

At the beginning of each week, I take a look at my calendar and schedule my workouts. I then take a look at my schedule each day and make sure the scheduled time still works on that particular day (since things can change quickly when you have 2 kids).

This scheduling piece is pretty important as I can’t just let my workouts happen by chance. When I do that, they just don’t happen. Life is so busy and workouts can quickly get derailed by so many other things.

For my workouts, right now I am enjoying using an app for strength training and then ending with some walking on the treadmill. On the days I don’t strength train, I will do a pretty lengthy stretching workout and take one of the dogs on a long walk.

If you don’t know where to start with your workouts, our BodyFIT Foundations program is a great strength training program for any beginner exerciser, or anyone who may be getting started again after not working out for a while.

Is BodyFIT Foundations perfect for you? -> See HERE

A Mental Win

Just like we need to exercise our muscles, we also need to exercise our brains every day. This becomes even more important as we get older.

I find that in the age of technology, people’s attention spans are getting shorter and shorter and one of the best ways to prevent that from happening is to spend some time reading every day.

Now, I’m a bookworm, so no one needs to convince me to pick up a book each day, but if you’re not, giving yourself little mini reading goals can help.

Of course, I recommend reading your Bible every day and if you can do that not on your phone, that would be great (although any way you read the Bible is a win). You can then spend some time journaling about what you read… again, preferably not on a computer or phone but using good ol’ pen and paper.

If you want to add to that, give yourself the goal of reading 5 pages of a book you know you will enjoy each day. You will be surprised by how many books you will finish each year by just reading a few pages a day.

Just this simple practice will help you use your brain well each day.

A Spiritual Win

I know you probably already know how powerful prayer is, but are you incorporating it into your day as much as you should?

The answer for you may be yes, but I know for me, until I started making a real effort to incorporate specific prayer times into my day, my prayer list would get long and my prayer time was short.

Now, I have specific times in my day when I pray, and I even have an alarm set on my phone for the afternoon prayer time.

In the morning, after I have completed my morning work time and my Bible reading, I spend time in prayer asking the Lord to guide my day. Sometimes I will listen to a worship song during this time (right now, my favorite song is "Here As In Heaven" by Elevation Worship) and spend some time in worship.

Later in the day, at 3pm, I have an alarm set on my phone that reminds me to stop everything and pray. This actually started when my best friend put together a small prayer group that had nine girls, all in different states and different countries, all praying at the same time. I absolutely loved it so much that I decided to continue praying at that time every day even when our group ended.

How about you? What is the best way for you to get a win in each category each day?

Spend some time today thinking about each category and what small changes you may need to make to get these 3 valuable wins in each day.

Have you started and stopped more diets than you can count?

Are you tired of the up and down yo yo cycle that comes with most diets?

You are not alone. Chances are either you or someone you know has lost a significant amount of weight, only to gain it all back again.

We see a lot of wonderful testimonials of great success inside our community, but we also see honest and vulnerable posts like this…

Hi, this is like my third time starting the program. I start and then lose interest and then quit. I really want to stick with it this time so pray with me so I can. - Janet M.

We absolutely will be praying for Janet as we do all of our members.

But why does this happen?

You know you want to lose weight. You know you want to be healthy so why does it feel like it's so hard to stick to anything long term?

The answer came to me as I was reading my Bible, specifically the parable of the sower in Matthew 13.

Verses 3-7 tell us that Jesus was speaking to a large crowd, as He often did, and told them a parable.

He begins with, “A farmer went out to sow his seed.”

Jesus then gives 4 different scenarios…

#1 - Some seed fell along the path and the birds came and ate it up.

#2 - Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.

#3 - Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants.

#4 - Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.

He then goes on to explain each scenario in verses 18-23 and this is when I had my “Aha moment.”

#1 - When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.

#2 - The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.

#3 - The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.

#4 - But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”

As I read these explanations, I realized that there are likewise four different scenarios in our health journey that correlate so perfectly to each of these and only when we reach #4 will our health and weight loss efforts truly stick and become a permanent part of our lives.

#1 - This is the person who hears they should take care of their body and possibly lose weight to be healthier but they immediately ignore it and don’t do anything with it at all.

#2 - This is the person that sees a neighbor or friend try a new weight loss program or finds a new one online and quickly becomes excited about it. But the moment it gets even a little difficult, they quickly abandon the whole thing.

#3 - This is the person that is on their health journey and doing well for some time, but then allows the cares and stresses of this world to completely derail them. This may also be the person who, after a few scale disappointments (the cares of this world), throws in the towel and gives up.

#4 - This is the person who not only follows a healthy eating plan, but truly understands it. The fruit of their understanding and commitment to the plan not only shows in their health, but begins to show in all areas of their lives. Now others begin to notice and they are positively influencing those around them.

Number 4 sounds like the promised land…lol…the place we all want to achieve and reach someday. It truly is making this a lifestyle and not something you are just doing short term.

That is why I have structured our program like this…

  • 4 weeks of detoxing from sugar and food additives while enjoying delicious meals using the New Life Promise meal plans and recipes.
  • A community of fellow believers and coaches (51,500 people strong), all there to support and pray with you along the way.
  • Our LiveSmart monthly program that continues to deliver easy and delicious recipes and meal plans after the first 4 weeks and supports you in making this a true enjoyable lifestyle.

Today I have completed my seventh week on the plan! I am so happy! I feel so much better! Less joint pain with each passing week! I have lost 20 pounds!!! I am back to the weight I was 28 years ago (still 100 pounds to go) but for the first time in my 67 years I know I can do this- be a healthy weight, live without sugar addiction and know that nothing is between me and my God! Hallelujah! Rejoice with me! - Sabrina G.

Losing weight can sometimes feel like a difficult journey. Just like we turn to scripture for other areas of our life, our health and our weight loss should be no different.

Today, I want to share with you 5 Bible Verses you can keep handy that will help keep your mind and your heart right as you embark on the journey to a healthier you.

1 Corinthians 10:31 "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

This verse is a beautiful reminder to align our actions with God's glory. When we make choices that honor Him, even in our eating and drinking, we bring a sacred purpose to our daily routines. By asking ourselves if our choices glorify God, we can stay motivated to make healthier decisions.

1 Peter 3:3-4  "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."

This verse encourages us to focus on inner transformation. While external changes are part of the journey, the real beauty lies in cultivating a gentle and quiet spirit. As we work on our physical health, let’s also nurture our inner selves, finding peace and contentment in God’s love.

Ephesians 2:10  "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Understanding that we are God’s masterpiece can transform how we view our health journey. We are created for good works and fulfilling God’s purpose. Taking care of our bodies is part of honoring the beautiful creation that we are, enabling us to serve and fulfill our God-given missions.

2 Chronicles 20:12 "Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you."

This verse is a powerful reminder to turn to God in times of struggle. When we face challenges on our health journey, acknowledging our dependence on God's strength can be incredibly empowering. We cannot overcome obstacles alone, but with God’s help, we can find the strength to persevere.

Galatians 5:22-23  "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

The fruits of the Spirit include self-control, which is crucial in making healthy choices. By cultivating these fruits, we allow God’s Spirit to guide our behaviors and decisions. Embracing self-control, along with the other fruits, helps us stay committed to our wellness goals.

Remember, God is with you every step of the way on this journey. When you integrate faith with your health goals, you’ll find a deeper, more meaningful motivation that transcends any temporary challenge.

If you’re ready to live a better, healthier life, look no further than the New Life Promise plan! Let's make this journey together, with God by our side.

Have you ever considered that your struggle with food could be a stronghold? Possibly even a form of idol worship or even gluttony?

It’s a difficult question to ask and an even more difficult question to answer.

One of our wonderful New Life Promise members recently shared her struggle with Diet Coke as a stronghold. Her honesty sparked an outpouring of support and shared experiences, highlighting how common it is for us to grapple with similar issues. Whether it’s soda, alcohol, drugs, or food, these can all affect our health and hinder us from doing what God has called us to do.

Understanding Strongholds

A stronghold can be anything that takes control over you, something that should be good, like food, but becomes a source of bondage.

But scripture offers us great encouragement and direction for these potential situations.

"No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." 1 Corinthians 10:13

This verse reminds us that God provides a way out of every temptation. When you feel the pull towards unhealthy habits, remember that God offers strength and a path to overcome.

The Battle Within: Pleasure, Habit, Sin, or Stronghold?

When considering your struggles—be it with food, soda, or anything else—ask yourself: Is it a source of pleasure, a habit, a sin, or a stronghold? Recognizing it as a stronghold means acknowledging that it has taken a place in your life that should be reserved for God.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." - 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

Our faith provides us with the power to break these strongholds, but we must actively choose to rely on God’s strength.

Gluttony and Food Idolatry

Pastor John Piper defines gluttony as the sinful enjoyment of food, where the enjoyment has become untethered from contentment in God. When our love for food surpasses our love for God, we veer into idolatry. Piper warns that any good gift from God can become sinful when it loses its connection to our contentment in Him.

Signs of Gluttony

Here are four warning signs that food might have become an idol in your life:

  1. Indifference to Harmful Effects: You become indifferent to how food is harming your body, the temple of the Holy Spirit.
  2. Unwise Spending: You spend money unwisely on unhealthy foods, disregarding the financial and health consequences.
  3. Using Food as Escape: You use food as a way to escape problems or medicate sadness and discomfort.
  4. Replacing God's Goodness with Food: You stop enjoying food as a way to enjoy God, and instead, replace the goodness of God with the goodness of food.

Finding Freedom

To overcome these strongholds, we need to root ourselves in God's word and seek His strength. Here are a few practical steps:

  • Seek Accountability: Just as people in recovery programs have sponsors, find an accountability partner. This could be a friend, family member, or someone in our community.
  • Pray for Strength: Regularly pray for God’s help in breaking free from these strongholds.
  • Stay in the Word: Meditate on scriptures that reinforce God’s promises and your identity in Him.

Psalm 34:17-19 offers comfort:

"The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all."

God is near and ready to help us through our struggles.

Breaking free from the strongholds of gluttony and food idolatry is not easy, but with God's help, it is possible. Remember, it’s about choosing the path of life that God sets before us, rather than the path of destruction that these strongholds lead to. I encourage you to stay rooted in the Word, seek support, and trust that God will make a way for you to overcome.

Let’s support each other in this journey towards health and spiritual freedom. If you need prayer or an accountability partner, don’t hesitate to reach out within our community. Together, with God's help, we can overcome these challenges and live a life that honors Him.

I had a woman share with me last week the impactful shift she made in her life several years ago to finally begin taking care of her body in a way she knew the Lord wanted her to.

She had a long history of eating "whatever she wanted" – fast food, sugary desserts, processed foods (we've all been there) – and as her health began spiraling out of control, she knew the Lord was calling her to make a change.

But that change was hard, very hard. You and I can probably relate to that too, because when you've been eating a certain way for such a long time, it can be difficult to just make big changes overnight.

But the next thing she shared with me was so amazing...

"Isabel, the moment I was finally able to truly commit to eating healthy and living my life a different way is when I started asking myself at every meal... Lord, what are we eating today? We, as in me and Jesus, together."

She shared with me that the moment she realized God was with her in absolutely everything she did that day, including eating, was the moment she began to look at food and meals in a completely different way.

I found myself in a similar situation, not with my eating, but when it came time to teach my little Marcos how to read. Because it was so easy to teach my oldest, Christian, how to read, I thought it would also be smooth sailing with Marcos. Boy, was I wrong. Every child is so different, and my little guy just needed some more time and a different style of learning.

It required so much patience and understanding on my part and, admittedly, I became frustrated more often than I would like to admit.

But I can remember the moment I asked the Lord to literally sit beside me as we went through those lessons with Marcos and right before our teaching sessions I would say, "Lord, how are we teaching Marcos to read today?"

If you have found yourself in moments of struggle, or falling into some of your past unhealthy habits and routines, I encourage you to begin asking this wonderful question... Lord, what are we eating today?

And if the Lord answers Chick-Fil-A and chocolate cake, well then, I guess it's party time 🙂

I'm kidding, of course, but I pray that just this simple reminder that the Lord is truly walking with you every day and encouraging you to make the best choices for yourself will help you on the journey to health.

Do you feel like no matter what you do, your body just won’t cooperate with you?

If you've been trying for years to lose weight or feel comfortable in your own skin, and you’re scared that you're going to be stuck where you are forever, then my new book is for you.

A New Life Promise: How to Heal Your Body, Find Joy, and Bring Glory to God contains absolutely no recipes, no meal plans, and zero exercise recommendations.

Why?

Because healing and change don’t come from a place of fear and hate. Transformation of your body, your heart, and your mind can only come from a place of love. You cannot heal a body you hate. That’s why this book was designed to help you heal and transform your emotional life first. Repair what has been hurt and broken, so the healing of your body can eventually follow. You’ll learn to allow God's grace and love to heal you in a whole new way.

A New Life Promise is a gentle, love-driven guide to help you create a peaceful and loving relationship with the beautiful temple God gave you. It invites you to look at yourself through God’s eyes, and to learn to trust handing the reins of your journey of healing and weight loss to Him.

So, even if you feel broken right now God can put all of your pieces back together.

My goal for this book is to help you see the truth in that statement and start to see yourself on this journey as He does. My prayer for you in this process is to transform the combative relationship you have with your body and food, and to instead have a peaceful and loving relationship with the vessel God gave you and the nourishment He provides us.

I pray that through this book you and I can go on that beautiful journey together.

We’ve all been there. You make the wonderful decision to lose weight and get healthy, and then your scale decides not to cooperate with you...LOL.

What exactly are you to do if you find yourself in a position where you are doing "all the right things" to lose weight, and nothing seems to be happening?

As with every struggle in our lives, let’s first dig into God’s word and see what biblical truth can help us in this situation.

Let’s reflect on Matthew 6:33 which says, "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

Typically, when we embark on a healthy eating plan, our main focus becomes the number on the scale and whether or not that number is moving in the direction we want (down, of course).

But in this passage from Matthew, which is part of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, Jesus is assuring those listening not to let their worries occupy them, as they are in fact tiny in the scheme of their Father who will grant them their every need as long as they entrust fully in His Kingdom first. He says to them "Do not worry saying what shall we eat or what shall we drink or what shall we wear, for the pagans run after all of these things. And your heavenly father knows that you need them," which he follows with verse 33 saying once again, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” The two parts of this short message are immensely important in understanding the side you are on when embarking on this health and weight loss journey.

You are either walking through this journey wondering when the needle on the scale is going to move your way (which can be related to what Jesus calls Pagan worries, like worrying what they should eat, drink, and wear) OR you are strutting in a more confident manner through this journey asking yourself if you are abiding by God’s kingdom fully and honestly, and thereby seeking the path of most abundance and long-term sustenance.

The hardest thing is that we humans love results, and to see progress as quick as possible. This is why we want the scale to move, and move fast. But this number is not a true reflection of our success on this journey of honoring God with our bodies. This is where our faith comes in, because God’s word shows us that if you seek Him first over your highest worries (which is a big leap don’t get me wrong!) then you will not only receive resolutions to those little problems, but you will allow your body and mind to step into something so much greater than yourself.

I can assure you, this will not be an overnight switch (I know this first hand with myself) That’s why we call it a journey and if you let it, this journey can change your life into such a stronger, sturdier, and more peaceful way of living and thinking. When you’ve been working hard, eating the right things, and abiding by the right decisions physically and you still don’t see the results you desire on the scale, your old frame of mind may say you need to eat less and less, whereas a big picture frame of mind says you should check where your heart is, and whether or not you are doing this for the right reasons. This will make you so much more powerful in the face of setbacks that you you’ll take them with a smile instead of feeling disappointed or discouraged just because the number on the scale is not reporting exactly as you would like.

Seeking His Righteousness

You may be asking, "What does it mean exactly to do this for God and not for me?"

And that is a really great question to always ask yourself. The answer to this question can quickly steer you back on course when perhaps you’ve gotten a little lost.

Do you remember back to your decision to embark on this challenge in the beginning? Think back to how you felt called to do this, the moment you knew this was something you had to do. Every day that you honor your body by feeding it right and giving it the encouragement it needs to get better, and feeling like you’re being obedient to guiding the temple inside you where it needs to go, you are honoring that calling of God on your life. Now this might not sound like the most sure way to get those results on the scale you’re looking for, but remember that the only way you can go when facing that struggle is down deeper and truer into your heart, asking why you’re doing this and being open to the answer even when you’re scared about what it might be. I can assure you it’s the only real way to get through obstacles like these. Aiming only for short term physical changes is dancing around the real issue. So take a deep breath, open your arms and say "Lord, show me my heart." I promise it will feel like a breath of fresh air.

After you have spent time examining your heart and your motives and praying for God to show you the truth, it’s time to set goals the right way.

Setting Goals the Right Way

Many people set goals in the form of "I want to lose 5 pounds by the end of this week," but setting goals in this way can automatically set you up for failure.

Why?

Because this is a goal that you cannot control. There are so many variables that can alter the number of pounds gained or lost at the end of each day that this is not a reliable way to gauge the success of your efforts.

Instead, choose a goal that is within your control like…

  • Have your meals ready for work 3 out of 5 days this week
  • Bring something healthy to church for an upcoming event
  • Exercise a certain number of minutes this week

Have your measure of success be reliant on whether you met those goals or not, and not if you met the number on the scale you were hoping for. It comes down to what is in your control versus what is not, because the only way to keep moving forward in a positive way is by setting goals that are in your control to reach.

Small Changes to your Daily Plan

And lastly, in addition to seeking God’s Kingdom first, and setting goals within your control, there are practical changes you can make to your eating routine when things aren’t exactly going your way after a few weeks.

  1. Are you drinking enough water? If you are not drinking half your body weight in ounces every day, this is the first measure to change to start seeing the results you want.
  2. Check for a potential issue with dairy. Sometimes, even if you’re not allergic to dairy your body can still have a hard time losing weight with it. You may want to switch to an almond milk yogurt (or coconut milk or cashew milk) instead of Greek yogurt. You could switch the cream in your coffee to coconut milk or almond milk.
  3. Get a yearly medical checkup along with bloodwork. I recommend this to all my clients and readers, especially once they reach 40 years old. With age, our hormones change, and it's important to test for any possible nutrient deficiencies or increased dietary needs. For example, you may not be getting enough Vitamin D, or may not have enough iron stores, or may need increased thyroid support. Your body may be lacking something that it needs in order to release the excess weight.

And most importantly, please remember, even if pounds aren’t falling off your body as quickly as you had hoped, there are so many changes going on inside you that you can’t see with your eyes. Maybe you’re less addicted to sugar than you were before, even if that's not showing on the scale quite yet.

And not to mention the emotional voice happening inside your body that maybe it hasn’t heard in your entire life! It’s funny to think of your body and your mind as two different people, but if you think about them getting to know each other, maybe your mind is starting to make that switch to going right to the Lord in prayer when you hit road bumps instead of attacking yourself, and it’s almost like your body is meeting that new friend in your new and improved brain. It’s going to take a little while for these two to get to know each other before they really start working in your favor, but if you continue to feed that relationship what it needs to flourish, then you will start seeing what you ultimately want to see.

And until then, don’t overlook the little strides you’re making, like feeling better, younger, more agile and even happier, and all the things going up for you when maybe one number isn’t going down quite yet. Continue to focus on the many positives happening in your life and keep your eyes fixed on the Lord through it all.

I often watch my kids play outside in the yard from the kitchen window. They're old enough now they can be trusted out there on their own (for the most part).

But, as any mom of boys knows, more often than not, someone is probably going to come in with a bump or bruise.

On this particular afternoon, I saw my younger son limping back to the house and I knew something was wrong. As he got closer I could see the sad look on his face. He continued to make his way closer and then he stopped, bowed his head, prayed and then started his limping back to the house.

When I met him on the back porch, he was crying, and I could see his knee and ankle were bleeding. He said, "Mommy, I fell. Can you clean me up? Oh, and I already prayed, so I took care of that part."

LOL! He already knew the absolute first step in his healing was going to be prayer. It was a proud mommy moment for sure, and I was happy to see my youngest carrying out our principle of "always go to the Lord first in everything."

I was watching a video series this week called "Bible Health Secrets." It was incredible to see how many health principles we need are already given to us in the Old and the New Testament, even details on specific foods.

But the first video in the whole series (9 videos long) was entirely dedicated to how prayer can directly impact our health and whether patients heal or not. It was amazing to see so many doctors, many of them with no religious affiliation, say that those patients who had a strong faith life and prayed during their severe illnesses (including cancer) were the ones that more often, experienced healing.

Wow! So incredible to hear, but I'm not shocked at all. I can name so many times in my own life when I knew it was God's hand that stepped in and helped me during my most difficult times, including my health.

And He clearly tells us He will in His word...

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." – Mark 11:24

And Jesus also said,

"And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." – John 14:13-14

The doctors in the video went on to say that people with faith tend to have a more positive attitude and were less focused on their worries and fears. Worry and fear triggers a chemical change in your brain which then creates negative chemical reactions in the rest of your body and yes, then, negatively affecting your healing process.

I don't know about you, but I've done my fair share of worrying and being fearful and it never changes the situation for the better. Actually, it just makes everything worse.

If you're currently working on making big changes to your health, like you've been told you have diabetes, pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, hormone imbalances... whatever the current diagnosis was, I'm going to show you how you can begin your healing process today with prayer.

Or, if your health changes don't include any specific health condition but you know you would feel so much better if you lost the excess weight, that too can be a big undertaking and I encourage you to use prayer as well.

Prayer does not need a specific structure, but here is a simple guide you can use if you're not sure how to go to the Lord in prayer.

First, thank God for all He has already provided so abundantly in your life. I know some days it may be hard to see where God is providing, but I promise you He is. If you're reading this newsletter on a computer or phone, God has provided.

Thank Him for the health information you already know, for your family's health or for the wonderful doctors or health professionals you have in your life. And thank Him for the little things as well... water, enough food each day, and the comfy bed where you lay your head at night.

Next, spend some time in confession and asking for forgiveness in any area of your life you know may not be quite right. Have you acted in a way you're not happy about? Have you maybe told some lies or were involved in something that is not honest? Whatever it is, you can bring it all to Him and He will help you make your wrongs right. (Trust me, I know this first hand!)

Now, bring your requests to Him. Please remember that God is not a genie in a bottle, there to grant our every wish, but He does hear every single one of our prayers and will always provide and give us exactly what we need when we go to Him in faith.

To help get you started, here is a very simple prayer you can start with today. I promise you will already feel a greater sense of peace after you say these words and spend this time telling Him what you need in your health journey right now.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for who you are and how you have already provided so abundantly in my life. Please help me to see those blessings from You each and every day and be a good steward of those blessings. I know You don't expect me to be perfect and You love me for who I am, but here are the areas of my life that I need to change. I ask for your forgiveness of these sins and I also ask for your strength to help me change. My strength and my will just don't feel like enough on most days, so I ask for Your mighty strength to be there when I feel weak. Today I am asking for your help with my health. I have these particular things going on (name them here) and I know I can conquer these things with Your power. I pray all these things in Jesus' name. Amen.

Wow, I don't know about you, but I already feel better!

I urge you to make consistent prayer an integral part of your health journey. If there is something you have been struggling with for quite some time, this could be the missing piece of the puzzle for you. Invite God into your healing journey and He will amaze you with what He can do. He continues to amaze me every single day.

While the rest of the world celebrates love once a year, as Christians, we can celebrate God's love every single day.

You have probably attended a wedding at some point that quoted 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. It is the group of verses that starts with "Love is patient, love is kind...."

It is a very popular verse used in wedding services and on days like Valentine's Day, but yesterday, as I sat in my children's homeschool group, one child was asked to read the first 3 verses that are usually not included.

I'm certain I've read these words in my Bible before, but yesterday they just struck me so powerfully...

"If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing3If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing." – 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

Without love in our hearts, without loving the way Jesus would love, and without the love that God has so graciously given us, we are nothing.

How many times have we done what we believed to be all the right things our Bible told us to do, but we did them minus the most important ingredient... LOVE?

On Valentine's Day, as the world gives out chocolates, candies, and flowers, I encourage you to spend some time in prayer asking God what things in your life can be done with just a bit more sprinkle of love. Or maybe a huge bucket of it 😉

As you ask the Lord to soften your heart with love in certain areas of your life, also take some time to read the popular verses in 1 Corinthians 13 4:8, but this time, insert your own name everywhere it says love...

(Insert your name in the blanks)

4____ is patient, ____ is kind. ____ does not envy, ____ does not boast, ____ is not proud. 5____ does not dishonor others, ____ is not self-seeking, ____ is not easily angered, ____ keeps no record of wrongs. 6____ does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7____ always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8____ never fails.

Wow. What would my life look like if I truly lived out these verses that way? Amazing, I bet, and a true reflection of who our great God created us to be.

My friend, I am a work in progress, and so are you, but thankfully, we have God's love to see us through.

When people ask me,

"Isabel, what do you think God has to do with weight loss and health?"

I excitedly reply...

"Everything!!!!"

Hear me out on this one.

Let's say I was an artist and I made you a sculpture as a gift. It was a beautiful piece of art and you took it home and put it on your shelf where you and others could admire it. Because you loved it so much, you would dust it and clean it several times a week, and just looking at it made you smile. Every so often, you would even call me and say, "Thank you so much for the beautiful sculpture. I just love it."

Now let's say I was an artist and I made you a sculpture as a gift and, sure, you thought it was kind of nice, but you really didn't feel like taking care of one more thing in your home. You did dust it and clean it every once in a while, but you really only did that out of guilt because you thought I might get mad at you if you didn't. You also never really thanked me for it.

In both scenarios above, you did take care of the gift I gave you, but in the first scenario you did so out of love and appreciation, and in the second you did so out of guilt and obligation.

I truly believe this mental shift is the difference between people who are able to improve their health and lose weight long term, and those who are in a constant struggle with their unhealthy habits.

Who is the artist in the scenario above?

God... our creator, who so perfectly made us and molded us in His image, with these beautiful and perfect bodies that can reach a wonderful level of health. We can either appreciate our bodies as beautiful gifts with love, or we can be burdened by our bodies and not see them as gifts at all.

"But Isabel, my body is not 'perfect.' I have diabetes, a slow thyroid, bad knees, arthritis [or insert whatever your body may be going through right now]."

Yes, I know sometimes it feels like our bodies are not so perfect and do not cooperate with us, but I firmly believe that if we do everything we can to take great care of ourselves, God can take over the rest.

In other words...

Control what you can control and let God control the rest.

After 20 years of being a nutritionist and helping millions of people, in person and on the Internet all over the world, I have come to realize that weight loss is more of a mental and spiritual game than it is a physical one.

If you're reading this and you've been in a battle with your weight and your eating for many years, this is most likely very true for you. You know all the "right" things to do. You know what you're "supposed to" be eating. But you just can't seem to get yourself to stick with it.

Why?

This is the very question that led me to dig deep and create what I believe holds the answers for many people struggling with their weight and their bodies right now.

Maybe you don't need another diet.

Maybe you don't need another weight loss supplement.

Maybe you don't need another exercise program.

The solution may be something much deeper. Something you've never tried before.

That's what you will discover in the New Life Promise program.

I lovingly encourage you to consider that your struggle with your weight could be so much more than just the food you're eating each day. And the best part is, you may only need a short time to make the shift you need.
